Given Montana's rich history, it's no surprise that there are plenty of places where paranormal activity has occurred. From the rumors of the Boulder Hot Springs ghost to the rest of our haunted hotels, our state seems to be a bit of a gold mine for ghost hunters.
And while you're much more likely to enjoy an unforgettable meal at Juliano's in Billings than you are to see a spirit, there just might be one looming in the background, watching you dine. Employees and construction workers have definitely seen (or felt) some evidence that the building is haunted.
We know what you're thinking... Juliano's? Really?
Located at 2912 7th Ave N in Billings, Juliano's is a beloved go-to restaurant for locals.
The Juliano's building was originally the stable of the sandstone "castle" next door, built in 1902.
It makes sense that a building with that much history would have a little paranormal activity.
The resident ghost at Juliano's is the former owner of the estate, Ernest Murray.
Although many people (mostly restaurant staff) have reported seeing a male entity, no one has ever seen his face. But it is assumed to be Mr. Murray himself.
Most of the team here knows better than to leave the upstairs closet open.
Apparently that's where Ernest hangs out, because when the closet door is left open, paranormal activity increases.
Don't believe in ghosts? You may end up being the victim of Ernest's antics.
The spirit likes to move objects, slam doors and generally spook people, especially non-believers. However, he seems to be quite harmless.
So why would we say you'll never forget a trip to Juliano's even though you probably won't see a ghost?
That's simple: Because the food here is exceptional. The menu changes monthly, and although there are a few consistencies, the chef doesn't stick to one type of cuisine.
You can come to Juliano's 100 times and have 100 different experiences.
Whether or not you witness the ghost of Ernest Murray in action, you'll have a wonderful time.
Those who have seen Ernest's antics will swear that Juliano's is haunted, but your odds of seeing his ghost are admittedly pretty slim. If you're hoping to actually see a ghost in Montana, these are the places to go.
