While Montana's larger cities have a fantastic variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, and bakeries, sometimes it's the simple small town mom and pop spots that serve the tastiest food. That's certainly the case at Bearclaw Bakery, a tried and true cafe located in the tiny town of Cooke City. When you visit, come hungry, because you just might have the best breakfast of your life here.
Cooke City is best known for being a gateway to Yellowstone National Park, and for its incredibly snowy winters.
And with a population of around 140, no one will be mistaking it for a big city anytime soon.
Bearclaw Bakery is located right on Main Street, and it's impossible to miss.
And, considering the breakfast here is unforgettable, that's a good thing.
Step inside and prepare to be surrounded by small-town charm and wonderful smells.
There are a few tables inside and a few outdoors, but you're also welcome to get your breakfast to-go.
Bearclaw Bakery opens bright and early to start selling their irresistible pastries.
From classic menu items like cinnamon rolls to daily specials and seasonal treats, the selection here is fantastic.
If you happen to spot these homemade huckleberry pop tarts, treat yourself to a few.
Just trust us on this one.
If you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast, you'll find that here too.
Bearclaw goes way beyond sweet treats. The breakfast menu is exceptional.
Order a hearty morning meal and top it off with some freshly brewed coffee.
If you're here on a weekend in the summertime, you may have a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it.
Bearclaw Bakery is open Wednesday - Sunday, and they open the doors for coffee bright and early at 5 a.m.
Breakfast service is from 6 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., and you can purchase pastries after that... if there are any left!
