Prasino is, hands down, one of the best restaurants in St. Charles County, Missouri. It offers an approachable upscale menu with an industrial-chic casual feel interior. You can experience their seasonal-focused food with their award-winning brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks menu. Oh, and they have a robust mocktail list for sober-curious folks, made with fresh ingredients and n/a spirits. Let’s look at this unique space just a mile from historic Main St., St Charles, MO.
Prasino, which opened in September of 2010, feels like you’re in a salvaged industrial loft [with eco-chic materials such as reclaimed wood, geometric recycled cardboard lampshades, and upcycled wine bottles for wine glasses] and somehow still feels upscale and special.
Casual by day, moody by night bar.
You can wear yoga pants if you want to be more casual sitting in the bar area for brunch or bust out your fancy dress for a dinner date night. The food and service are consistently good.
Consider the beauty of this plate with humble ingredients like beets.
The food presents as fine dining because of its immaculate execution and consistency, but it retains its farm-to-table feel with thoughtful, seasonal ingredients. The chefs focus on organic and local, sustainably sourced ingredients whenever possible. With this natural focus on the menu and the upcycled interior, you might call this a “green” and “clean” restaurant. You might not be surprised to learn prasino means “green” in Greek.
Cocktail and mocktail menus rotate frequently.
I have to let you in on a few more of my favorite things about Prasino… I can always try something different! With a seasonal drink menu, weekly specials, and a seasonally rotating menu, the options are endless.
They tend to keep their classics, one of my favorites being the sushi, which you might not expect to be so good in the middle of the country. I trust the management uses quality purveyors for their food, so I know I’m not getting typical processed food you might find at corporate or large-scale restaurants.
Despite its rustic feel, Prasino is in the heart of the new-ish development of Streets of St. Charles, which began in 2008 and features shopping, entertainment, lodging, and luxury housing. The area feels like a mini downtown all on its own. The architecture nods to the nearby historic district of Main St., St. Charles, with its red brick exterior, adding charm to this modern development.
