Missouri has a long tradition of wonderful restaurants, and this one is the oldest. The J. Huston Tavern, in Arrow Rock holds the distinction of the longest operating restaurant in the state. Its history is truly incredible, but the food and service you'll experience when you visit now is also unparalleled.
The building was constructed in 1834.
It was built as a home for J. Huston's family.
The home originally had just four rooms.
Huston soon built additions to the home, in order to accommodate weary travelers. It quickly gained a reputation as a wonderful inn where people could get a hot meal and stay overnight.
J. Huston Tavern is the oldest continually operating restaurant in Missouri.
You can enjoy a meal there today! It's located at 304 Main Street in Arrow Rock.
The tavern is listed on the National Register Of Historic Places.
The Missouri State Parks system operates it.

During the regular season, the tavern is open for lunch and dinner.
From June through September, J. Huston Tavern is open for lunch Wednesday - Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and dinner on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
