When done right, there’s nothing quite like a shrimp po’ boy. From the perfectly fried shrimp to the flaky French bread, it’s the best thing since, well, sliced bread. And luckily for you, we found an unassuming seafood shack that serves up some of the best shrimp po’ boys in the South. Come with us to Bozo’s Seafood Market in Pascagoula to eat some of the best seafood in Mississippi.
A legendary Gulf Coast eatery, Bozo’s Grocery opened in Pascagoula in 1956.
In 2018, the owners opened a second restaurant, Bozo’s Too. It’s also in Pascagoula, but that’s about all it has in common with the original locale. The new restaurant has a completely different menu.
It might not look like much on the outside – and that’s part of its charm.
Bozo’s was voted one of America’s top seafood dives by Coastal Living Magazine. And that’s just one of the many accolades it’s received throughout the decades.
Much like the exterior, Bozo’s interior is frill-free.
Bozo’s isn’t a white linen type of place. It’s actually a seafood market that just so happens to include a lunch counter. So instead of a fancy dining room, you’ll find communal tables equipped with paper towels.
And don’t be fooled by the name. Bozo’s doesn’t clown around when it comes to great seafood, especially shrimp po’ boys.
Now famous, the po’ boys have received a ton of recognition over the years, often topping best of lists.
Bozo's po’ boys come in a couple of sizes.
No matter which size you order, though, it will be overloaded with shrimp.
The shrimp po' boy isn't the only dish Bozo's has perfected.
(Although, it has definitely perfected it!)
Like a seafood showcase, the menu is brimming with tasty dishes, from classics to local favorites.
In addition to lots of other po’ boy options, the menu features a slew of seafood dishes. There are some non-seafood dishes, like burgers, too.
From the award-winning seafood fare to the classic “dive” setting, Bozo’s serves up one of the South’s most unique dining experiences. Lucky for us, it’s here in Mississippi.
