The shop is the brain child of Al Jensen, an oceanographer-turned-baker with a penchant for incredible bread. After studying with a world renowned baker in Vermont, Jensen decided to put his baking skills to work and opened Serious Bread.

Like the sign says, the bakeshop specializes in bread, so you’ll find an assortment of handmade breads.

So just what makes the bread so good? According to Jensen, it’s the wholesome ingredients, like King Arthur flour.

It also has something to do with the technique used to make the bread. At Serious Bread, grains are soaked for up to 10 hours, which makes minerals and nutrients more available. The end result is healthy, easily digestible, and delicious loaves.

Whatever it is that Simply Bread is doing, it's working! The bread is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

With such a variety, there's something for everyone's tastes. Aside from loaf bread in an array of flavors, the bakery makes flat bread, which is perfect for pizzas.
