Bread pudding is a classic southern dessert. Not surprisingly, restaurants all over the state serve up the traditional treat. However, there’s one version that stands out above the rest – and it can be found at Blue Canoe in Tupelo. Putting a tasty twist on the classic dessert, Blue Canoe uses blueberry donuts to make its award-winning bread pudding. Take a look:
Though most associated with music, Tupelo is quickly garnering a reputation for its burgeoning food scene – and Blue Canoe is part of that scene.
Opened in 2011, Blue Canoe celebrates both of Tupelo’s best attributes by serving up a tasty, creative fare and featuring live music on a nightly basis. A laid-back type of place, it’s the perfect spot to get your grub on while enjoying great music.
The mouthwatering menu is mostly made up of hands-on pub food, including one of the best burgers in the state.
There are also unique culinary creations, like a burrito filled with brisket and mac and cheese.
The menu even features local favorites, like po’ boys and fried bologna sandwiches.
And while the entrée options are sure to hit the spot, the dessert, more specifically, Connie’s Blueberry Doughnut Bread Pudding, is a must-try.
Blue Canoe’s unique take on the classic dessert has caused quite the stir.
Not only loved by customers, but the dessert has won several awards and been featured in publications, such as Mississippi Magazine, which named it the state’s best dessert three different times.
Part of what makes the dessert so good is that it’s made using doughnuts from a Tupelo favorite, Connie’s Fried Chicken. It may sound strange, but Connie’s is known as much for its homemade blueberry doughnuts as its fried chicken.
Whatever the reason behind its tastiness, this is one dessert you'll definitely want to save room for.
Serving up a lively atmosphere, great grub, and the state's best dessert, a visit to Blue Canoe is sure to hit the spot.
