the Onward Store. Located on a lonely stretch of Highway 61 in Rolling Fork, the still-functioning general store has been serving locals and hunters since 1913, and in recent years, has grown to include a restaurant.
Maintaining the look and feel of a general store from yesteryear, you’ll be transported back in time as soon as you step through the front door.
Head to the back of the store and you’ll find the restaurant. Grab a seat and browse the menu, which is full of southern favorites.
According to customer reviews, the homemade pig skins, which are served with Comeback sauce, are a great choice for an appetizer.
The Delta-style hot tamales are also a popular appetizer.
As far as an entree goes, you can't go wrong with the seafood.
The store’s signature Onward Burger is also part of the fare, and for only $6, can’t be beat.
In true southern fashion, Blue Plate specials are available daily and include mouthwatering options, like fried chicken and hamburger steak.
