Of all the donuts and pastries that fill the display case, there’s one that’s sure to catch your eye – and that’s the Katrina Pieces, which are basically freeform donuts that come glazed or frosted with chocolate.
Signage posted within the shop explains the story behind the crudely-shaped donuts and just how they were developed. In short, they were invented after Hurricane Katrina, when supplies were scarce.
