The Fillin’ Station is located in downtown Biloxi on Howard Avenue. Just as the name implies, it started off as a gas station – the Standard Oil Station - when it first opened in the 1920s.
Locals have long been a fan of the eatery and its tasty fare. And it hasn’t taken long for national publications to take notice, including CNN, which recently named the Fillin’ Station one of "7 Chic Restaurants Housed in Former Gas Stations."
Burgers, sandwiches, and seafood also make up a portion of the menu. The Main Street Burger, which features a ½-pound patty perfectly seasoned and dressed, is a customer favorite.
Part of what makes the food so good is the fact that it’s all made using "the best and freshest, never frozen, ingredients." From the appetizers to the desserts and everything in between – it’s all made on site.

Originally opened in 1941 as a honky tonk, Doe’s Eat Place eventually transformed into a full-time restaurant after one local doctor showing up for lunch turned into two and so on. And while there can only be one original, Doe’s Eat Place has expanded and now includes numerous locations in several different states, making it not only one of the most famous unique restaurants in Mississippi but in the nation.
This Vicksburg eatery may not look like much on the outside, but don’t let that fool you! The former fruit stand has been transformed into one of the most "unique restaurants near me" in Mississippi, serving southern favorites, such as po’boys, BLTs, sweet potato fries, and peach cobbler. And if it’s locally produced items that you’re after, The Tomato Place can deliver since it offers locally-grown fruits and vegetables as well as homemade jams and preserves.
