2. Black Bottom Pie from Weidmann’s (Meridian)
Opened in 1870, Weidmann’s is Mississippi’s oldest restaurant, but that’s not its only claim to fame. There’s also its "world famous" black bottom pie. Without a doubt worthy of the fame, the pie’s crust, which is made of dark chocolate and ginger snaps, is filled with whiskey-spiked custard and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. No list of iconic Mississippi desserts would be complete without the state’s namesake, Mississippi mud pie. Plenty of places serve their own versions of the classic dessert – and The Chimneys is one of them.
