Small town Mississippi is full of tasty secrets – and Happy Daze is definitely one of them. You’ll find the eatery in Nesbit, which is a community in DeSoto County.
Despite its small town locale, it’s easy to find. Not only is it right off the highway, but there are two polar bears having a snowball fight out front.
And while the walk-up window is convenient, it doesn’t give you the chance to experience the eatery in all its retro glory. You’ll have to head inside for that.
Even the grub is reminiscent of dairy bars of the past. All the classics - burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fries, and onion rings - are on the menu. (Make sure to try the onion rings; they’re a customer favorite.)
Of course, the menu does feature a bit of a Mississippi twist - and that twist comes in the form of tasty offerings, like country fried steak, catfish plates, and hearty specialty salads.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. If you happen to be in the area and search for the "best burgers near me," you should absolutely make a stop here! Best of all, the menu is simple but delicious.
Its simplicity is no coincidence. The owner, a graduate of the Florida Culinary Institute, chose to focus on simple, straightforward, made-to-order menu items.
The burgers, which are hand-crafted and then char-grilled to perfection, are the star of the menu.
There are a few hamburgers to choose from – each of which is made with freshly ground Angus beef and served on a sesame-seed bun with a side of hand-cut fries.
