1. Dale’s (1226 Main St., Southaven)

Opened for over four decades, Dale’s is one of the best "home cooking family restaurants" in the state. The great family atmosphere, low prices, and quality food, which includes fresh vegetables, steaks, and burgers, make it easy to see why Dale’s is a local favorite.

2. The Historic Klondyke Trading Post (100 N. Washington St., Vicksburg)

This "uniquely southern" restaurant and night spot offers a variety of craft beers, mouthwatering appetizers, and a $10 rib eye!

3. Hall of Fame Restaurant (54 Dover Rd., Bentonia)

If you’re a sports fan with a love for burgers, you’ll definitely want to visit this small eatery, where you’ll find a menu filled with specialty burgers named after some of the best football players from Mississippi and walls plastered in memorabilia from NFL Hall of Famers.

4. Phillip’s Drive-In (330 S Magnolia St., Laurel)

This former Dairy Queen has been serving Laurel since 1947. And since it became P.D.I. in the 1960s, not much has changed – the made-to-order hamburgers and specialty sandwiches are still extremely popular amongst locals.

5. Wild Hog BBQ (7103 Will Robbins Hwy., Nettleton)

This local favorite is known for serving mouthwatering barbecue, including baby back ribs, smoked chicken, and rib tips. The fare also includes some amazing sides, such as homemade potato salad, Cole slaw, and BBQ nachos.

6. Porches (1193 Highway 51, Wesson)

Dining at this Victorian home-turned-restaurant is surely an experience you’ll remember, especially when you take into account the mouthwatering fare, which includes southern favorites, such as fried chicken and bread pudding, as well as specialty items, like lemonade green beans.

7. Old Hickory Steak House (1301 Hwy 45 N., Columbus)

Raved about by locals, a visit to Old Hickory Steak House is a must for any steak lover. The Columbus eatery is known for its melt-in-your-mouth steaks, which are charcoal grilled and served with perfectly cooked baked potatoes and crispy garlic toast.

8. Country 35 Diner (1504 Highway 35 S., Foxworth)

If you’re looking to get your fill of traditional southern cooking, then this is the place for you. Visit during breakfast and you’ll find a menu filled with true southern classics, including tomato gravy that is so good, you’ll swear your grandma made it. Head to the diner later in the day and you’ll be met with a buffet made up of home-cooked classics, including the restaurant’s specialty, Mrs. Candy’s fried chicken.

9. Anthony’s Good Food Market (116 W Main St., West Point)

Craving some authentic Cajun-Creole cuisine? Then you won’t be disappointed with a visit to this West Point eatery. The menu is filled with traditional dishes, such as gumbo and shrimp and grits as well as more creative options, like andouille sausage and Gouda cheese bites. Even better, you can BYOB and there’s weekly live music. Remember to make reservations before you go; the place tends to get pretty crowded.

10. The Camp Restaurant (21 Silver St., Natchez)

Don’t let the fact that The Camp Restaurant is technically a "sports bar" fool you, as the food is unlike anything you’d find in a typical sports bar. From bread that’s baked in-house daily to hand cut fries, the mouthwatering fare is sure to please. And since it’s located in Natchez’s Under-the-Hill district, incredible views of the Mighty Mississippi are always on the menu.

11. Donanelle’s Bar and Grill (4321 U S Highway 49, Hattiesburg)

Located in Hattiesburg, this mom and pop eatery serves up a delicious fare of steaks, ribs, and seafood dishes in a cozy setting.
