1. Connie’s Chicken (821 S Gloster St., Tupelo)
Start your day off with a hearty serving of chicken and biscuits smothered in gravy. Don’t want chicken first thing in the morning? No problem; Connie’s is known for serving some of the best blueberry donuts around.
2. Big Bad Breakfast (719 N. Lamar Blvd., Oxford)
Featured in countless publications and television shows, Big Bad Breakfast has gained the approval locals and critics alike. The all day breakfast menu is jam-packed with everything from standard egg plates to signature skillets and other unique creations.
3. In and Out Breakfast (1711 Pass Rd., Biloxi)
(Business Now Closed) This Biloxi gem is proof that a New York-style deli can be a great place to grab breakfast. Browse the menu, and you’ll find a variety of omelets, wraps, and the restaurant’s specialty – breakfast sandwiches. The signature sandwiches are 3" thick and are piled high with tasty toppings, like eggs, meat, and even hashbrowns. Even better, everything on the menu is made from scratch using the freshest ingredients.
4. Blue and White Restaurant (1355 US-61, Tunica)
Serving the area since 1924, the Blue and White Restaurant has become somewhat of a Tunica landmark. Running the restaurant is a family affair, complete with authentic southern recipes that have been passed down for over 70 years! Aside from a standard breakfast fare, the Blue and White offers freshly-made donuts and cinnamon rolls.
5. Shockley’s Restaurant (927 S Gloster St., Tupelo)
(Business Now Closed) What was once one of Tupelo’s best kept secrets is now among the city’s top dining spots, and was even included in Southern Living’s list, "10 Reasons to Visit Tupelo Now." The Tupelo staple opens bright and early at 6:00 am to serve up a traditional breakfast fare, which includes an impressive variety of pancakes.
6. Buzzy’s Breakfast Joint (1019 Desoto St., Ocean Springs)
(Business Now Closed) This house-turned-restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere along with a lengthy breakfast menu that features an assortment omelets, tacos, sandwiches, and hearty plates. Visit on a nice day, and you can dine outside on the porch and enjoy the coastal surroundings.
7. The Biscuit Pit (1983 Commerce St., Grenada)
Here in Mississippi, some of the best food can be found in gas stations, and that’s exactly the case with The Biscuit Pit. In business for years, the Grenada favorite has garnered a reputation for serving amazing biscuits, and even landed a spot on Southern Living’s list "The South’s Best Biscuit Joints."
8. Abe’s Grill (803 Highway 72 W., Corinth)
This Corinth classic may be most known for its barbecue, but it also serves one mean breakfast. From pork tenderloin and bologna to homemade biscuits and chocolate gravy, the early morning fare includes everything your heart (and taste buds) could desire.
9. The BTC Old Fashioned Grocery (301 North Main, Water Valley)
Much more than a grocery store, B.T.C. also includes a restaurant known as The Dixie Bell Café. A local favorite, the café’s breakfast fare is made up of southern classics, including homemade biscuits and gravy, which just so happen to be a café specialty and customer favorite.
10. The Mockingbird Café (110 S 2nd St., Bay St Louis)
Originally opened as a coffee shop in 2006, the Mockingbird Café has evolved into an art gallery and popular eatery. Visit between 7 am and 11 am, and you can indulge on mouthwatering breakfast dishes, which include everything from omelets and eggs-your-way to homemade waffles and frittatas. Be sure to look around the gallery after your meal; all of the artwork is for sale.
