You asked for a continuation of this list, and you got it! Okay, technically you didn’t ask for it, but since we received so many suggestions from our readers about which restaurants should be added, we decided to put together a second list. So, without further ado, here are the Only in Your State readers’ selections for 10 MORE Mississippi restaurants that may not look like much on the outside but have food that is out of this world.

1. Borroum’s Drug Store and Soda Fountain, Corinth

Established in 1865, Borroum’s is Mississippi’s oldest operating drug store and soda fountain. Aside from offering a glimpse into yesteryear, Borroum’s also offers, what many claim to be, the best slugburgers in the state and milkshakes that are out of this world. And while waiting for your food, be sure to check out the on-site museum.

2. White Trolley Café, Corinth

Opened since the 1950’s, White Trolley Café has garnered quite the reputation over the years and was mentioned by several readers. Known for their slugburgers, it looks like Borroum’s may have some competition on their hands.

3. Jerry’s Catfish, Florence

One of Florence’s oldest fish houses, Jerry’s Catfish seems to be the city’s best kept secret, especially since the restaurant has no website or Facebook Page. But according to customer review websites such as Yelp and Trip Advisor, this is a must-visit. A statement reiterated by one of our readers who said that Jerry’s "has the best fried catfish, hush puppies, and Cole slaw!"

4. Phillips Drive-In (P.D.I.), Laurel

Phillips Drive-In was originally opened as a Dairy Queen in 1947. By the 1960’s the name changed and P.D.I. has been a Laurel mainstay ever since. The made-to-order hamburgers and specialty sandwiches are extremely popular amongst locals and have even been recognized in publications such as "Mississippi Magazine."

5. Crechale’s Café, Jackson

This family owned Jackson restaurant has been in business since the 1950’s. And while not much has changed on the inside (the antique jukebox still plays actual records!), the same is not true for the restaurant's reputation. Over the years, Crechale's has become known for their top-notch steaks and seafood as well as specialty items like their famous onion rings and comeback sauce.

6. Doe’s Eat Place, Greenville

Winner of several awards, including the James Beard Award, and featured on "Steak Nation," Don’s Eat Place hasn’t always been known for its great steaks. When opening in 1941, the restaurant’s main focus was actually tamales; however, it didn’t take long for the restaurant to become known for its delicious specialty. As of today, there are eight locations in addition to the original Greenville location.

7. Bozo’s Seafood, Pascagoula

Several readers suggested that Bozo’s be added to this list, without which we would’ve probably never found it! With no website and only an unofficial Facebook page, information on Bozo’s is limited but consistent. There seems to be a common consensus amongst our readers and comments posted on customer review sites – Bozo’s is awesome, especially the po’ boys which were even recognized by "USA Today."

8. Leatha’s Bar-B-Que Inn, Hattiesburg

Please note, Leatha’s Bar-B-Que Inn has relocated to Petal.

This is another restaurant that was mentioned repeatedly by "Only in Your State" readers. In business since 1976, Leatha’s has become a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Even celebrities can’t get enough of the delicious barbecue as the restaurant has had several famous visitors over the years. And if you want to stray from the norm, you’re in luck. The restaurant was featured on "Bizzare Foods" with Andrew Zimmern and showcased quite an unusual dish - raccoon and possum.

9. The Old Country Store Restaurant, Lorman

Located just off the Natchez Trace Parkway, this restaurant is known for its delicious all-you-can-eat buffet of classic southern comfort foods; more specifically, Mr. D"s Heavenly Fried Chicken, which attracts people from all over and has been recognized countless times in the media. The best part? Diners are often entertained by the owner, Mr. D., who is known for his singing ability.

10. Fat Mama's Hot Tamales, Natchez

No article on Mississippi eateries would be complete without a hot tamale restaurant, and, according to our readers, this one should be on the list. Originally opened in the late 1980’s, Fat Mama’s has risen to popularity extremely quickly, and is now known for its chili and world-famous "Knock-You-Naked" margaritas…in addition to the tamales, of course.
