Northern Minnesota along Lake Superior gets a lot of attention for its natural beauty. Plenty of tourists flock the area in every season, and it's no wonder. But it's time we pay some attention to the southern part of the state. Southern Minnesota is gorgeous, and the coming warm months are the perfect time to give it some spotlight. One great way to take it all in is by taking a trolley ride through the region. The Rochester Trolley and Tour Company offers a fantastic wine trolley that is perfect for those who want to sightsee in southern Minnesota. Check it out:
This wine trolley is a new tour offered by the Rochester Trolley and Tour Company.
It starts off at the Olmstead Government Center in Rochester and lasts an entire day, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The trolley visits four wineries in Minnesota's bluff region. Along the way, guests will be treated to the gorgeous scenery along the Great River Road National Scenic Byway.
The first stop along the way is at Aspelund Winery, which opened in 2015. It offers a tasting room that overlooks a gorgeous, colorful garden full of peonies, elderberry bushes, apple trees, and grape vines.
Next up is the Cannon River Winery in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. This place is well known for its lovely tasting room where you can sample award-winning wines.
Falconer Vineyards & Winery is a truly picturesque place to spend an afternoon.
Sip your wine on the outdoor patio and enjoy the serene beauty of the winery.
The wine trolley makes a lunch pitstop at Kelly's Taphouse and Grill in Red Wing. You'll be happy for the stop. Red Wing is a charming town with lots to see.
The final stop is Lake Pepin Winery. The winery continues the tradition of using locally grown, cold hardy grapes to produce great wines. It's a lesser known winery that you'll be glad you visited, and a great final stop on your wine trolley tour.
