Delicious restaurants abound in Minnesota, even in some of the state's most remote places. We have restaurants nestled inside of national forests, like the Trestle Inn. And, in the case of the eatery we'd like to share today, we have restaurants tucked away into the rugged and remote Boundary Waters. The Trail Center Lodge is a popular stop on the Gunflint Trail that has been serving up great meals to weary travelers since 1938. Today, you can still stop in to rest from the road - and grab a great meal. Check it out:
Trail Center Lodge is a store, restaurant, and lodge on the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota. It's about 30 miles north of Grand Marais, on Poplar Lake.
Since 1938, the Trail Center has been a stopping point for those traveling along the Gunflint Trail. It was originally built as a logging camp, but it now has many amenities. There's a grocery store, a gas station, a gift store, and cabins for rent.
Many people also stop here to eat in the delicious restaurant. The dining room is warm and welcoming, with plenty of seating for groups large and small. You'll always get friendly service here.
The menu is full of great items. For breakfast, you can't go wrong with a stack of pancakes. They're known for being fall-off-the-plate big, so pancake lovers will be in luck. If you prefer a more savory breakfast, the restaurant is always ready with classic bacon and eggs.
Later in the day, you can't go wrong with a burger and fries. The portions here are hearty and delicious. You will never walk away with an empty stomach.
Other favorites include prime rib, fish, chicken pot pie, barbecue ribs, and more.
No matter what you order, you'll find a hot, filling meal, a warm place to rest, and a new favorite place to stop along the Gunflint Trail!
