When you live in Minneapolis, it's hard to even conceive the idea that you would leave the Twin Cities to have an amazing meal when some of the best restaurants are located within minutes of home. Most Minneapolitans would never think a strip mall in the middle of nowhere would contain much of anything, much less a fantastic Cajun/Creole restaurant. That's exactly what you get when you visit Bistro La Roux in Circle Pines, just a mere 18 miles away from Minneapolis.
Bistro La Roux's exterior is entirely unassuming.
You'd probably pass it by and never think of it.
The interior of the restaurant has an industrial vibe.
We love the lights hanging from beams on the ceiling. The interior just feels cool. It almost feels like it it would belong right at home in Minneapolis, but since it's basically in the middle of nowhere, it's actually a lot more accessible than the trendiest restaurants in the city.
Bistro La Roux serves a Beignet Burger!
Who knew such a thing would be possible... and also feel so necessary at the same time? What have we all been missing out on?
Bistro La Roux knows how to do Creole/Cajun fare right.
Have you ever seen such a wonderful sight?
A mountain of chocolate dessert?
I can't think of anything like this served anywhere in Minneapolis. My goodness!
Two words: Boo Fries.
Essentially it's a Cajun poutine. Sure, it might be heart attack-inducing, but it sure is delicious.
The fried green tomatoes cooked to crispy perfection are a must-try.
Any Southern comfort restaurant needs to have grits on their menu. La Roux's makes theirs with Gouda and micro greens.
It's as pretty as a picture and just as delectable.
The best part of the restaurant? Patrons can watch all of the cooking go down in the kitchen.
