Here in Minnesota, many of the state's most popular restaurants are in Minneapolis, St. Paul, or Duluth. It makes sense, since these cities - and Minnesota's other large cities - are home to most of the state's population. Restaurants in these places draw many well-earned visitors thanks to their great food and atmosphere. But there are plenty of spots in Greater Minnesota that are also deserving of praise. One we'd like to introduce today is a secluded countryside restaurant in Mankato, Minnesota. The Rapidan Dam Store might just be the most charming place you ever eat. Check it out:
The Rapidan Dam Store is a charming little country restaurant in Mankato, Minnesota. It's a wonderful stop to make when you're in the area to visit the double waterfall at Minneopa State Park!
Though the restaurant is in Mankato, it is outside of the city. In fact, it is in a secluded forest area near the Blue Earth River. It's steps away from the Rapidan Dam, which gives the store its name.
Inside, you'll find a charming country store that looks like it hasn't been touched in decades. Step up to the counter to place your order. When it comes up, you can sit here to enjoy your meal or take it outside to enjoy the scenery.
Either way, you're in for a treat. You'll find simple foods and drinks on the menu, including classic burgers, sandwiches, and fries. If you're looking for a quick lunch, this is the place.
The regular meals are good, but there's one item you can't leave without trying: the pie. There are many pies available, each as delicious as the last.
Whether you prefer classic apple or strawberry, sweet banana cream, or old-fashioned sour cream raisin, the pies here are absolutely outstanding. People come from far and wide to try them. Next time you're in the area, visit this secluded countryside store. It will soon become a regular stop whenever you're in Mankato!
