For being known as a cold and snowy state, Minnesota has more than a few notable ice cream shops. Each is deliciously sweet in its own right, but one has stood the test of time for a bit longer than all the others. Selma's Ice Cream Parlor in Afton, Minnesota, has been around for over 100 years, making it the oldest ice cream shop in the entire state. Here's the scoop on this historic shop.
Selma's Ice Cream Parlor opened in 1913.
The building was originally used as ammunition storage during the Civil War.
Despite changes over the years, Selma's still serves up sweet treats.
The parlor closed in 2009 but was reopened in 2015 under new ownership. The fact that Selma's is still around after changing hands is a testament to its important place in the Afton community.
The inside of Selma's is just as quaint as the outside.
The shop is lined with shelves that display old-fashioned candy for sale. You'll have a sugar rush and an overdose of nostalgia as soon as you walk in the door.
Selma's Ice Cream Parlor offers over 30 tasty flavors.

If you like, you can eat your ice cream out of a freshly made waffle cone.
The cones are made fresh and hand-dipped into milk, dark, or white chocolate. Some even come with sprinkles!
Or you can get a cake cone or a sugar cone if you prefer.
Try a double cake cone for an extra dose of cold, creamy goodness. You know you want to.
If you don't do dairy, you're in luck. Selma's carries dairy-free treats too.
