The Land of 10,000 Lakes is full of blasts from the past. We have an old-fashioned Dairy Queen that still delights visitors of all ages. Our remaining drive-in movie theaters fill up every night of the summer. Retro bowling alleys bring visitors hungry for an old-fashioned good time. And other restaurants, such as the Pine City A&W, are old timey spots that will bring back all the feels. Read on to learn about this charming restaurant's history:
The A&W in Pine City, Minnesota, is a landmark restaurant that everyone in town has been to at least once. You'll find it at 820 Main St. S., Pine City, MN 55063.
This A&W restaurant dates back to 1955. It's been a fixture on Pine City's Highway 61 for more than 60 years.
This nostalgic spot is notable for being one of the few remaining A&Ws that still have carhops. Park your car, order up, and a server will be out with your frosty mug and burger in no time.
Inside, the retro charm continues. Old-fashioned details are everywhere you look.
For those who'd rather dine in, there is plenty of seating in the busy dining room.
The old checkered flooring and 1950s-inspired booths bring diners back to another time.
There's even a fireplace. The table and stools surrounding it make this a cozy dining area even when the temperature drops.
Of course, the food leaves nothing to be desired. From burgers and fries to hot dogs to chicken, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Don't forget to wash it all down with a nice tall glass of root beer - or even a root beer float!
