We Minnesotans are lucky to have hundreds - even thousands - of incredible restaurants to choose from. Some come with unique themes, some take us to tropical destinations, and one even has a working Ferris wheel. But if you're looking for something even more out of the ordinary, look no further than the Rapid River Logging Camp. This northern Minnesota restaurant will take you back in time - and serve you delicious food. Take a look:
Rapid River Logging Camp is located at 15073 County Road 8, Park Rapids, MN 56470.
It was established in this beautiful part of Minnesota in 1954, but it reaches even further back in time than that. A visit is like stepping into an 18th-century logging camp.
Guests are free to roam around the grounds, which contains buildings resembling an old blacksmith shop, a huge logging sled, and a sawmill.
There is even an old engine that was once used to power sawmills. Your visit will be a lesson on the century-old industry of the North Woods.
You can even try your hand at logging. Are you strong enough to lift the heavy chain used to move logs? Give it a go at Rapid River Logging Camp.
But you're not only there for a history lesson. You're also there to eat! Rapid River Logging Camp serves two family-style meals in the large cafeteria. You will love their well-priced all-you-can-eat meals.
The wooden interior lined with long tables is just like a real logging camp. The attention to detail doesn't end there. Your table will be set with old metal plates and cups. They'll give your meal an authentic feel.
Depending on when you visit, you'll be served a hearty breakfast or dinner meal. Breakfast is pancakegs, eggs, ham, and sausage. Dinner is roast beef, roast, pork, chicken, ribs, and ham.
Both meals come with plentiful sides! You will definitely not walk away hungry.
This restaurant serves breakfast every day from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., and dinner from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Check out their website for more information about visiting, and stop in to their Facebook page to say hi!
