With summer in full force - and showing no sign of cooling down - it is time for Minnesotans to take matters into our own hands. For some, this means long cabin weekends up north. For others, a jump in the lake will do. But the quickest way to cool down during the famously humid Minnesota summer? Ice cream. Luckily, there is one charming lakeside ice cream shop that has been many Minnesotans' go-to spot for years. Take a look:
The PortLand Malt Shoppe is located at 716 E Superior St., Duluth, MN 55802.
The charming shop's long history is clear as soon as you look at the building. It is a former gas station built in 1921!
Over the years, its purpose shifted. It finally became an ice cream shop in 1989.
Ever since, this shop has been delighting North Shore visitors and locals alike.
The lakeside location makes PortLand Malt Shoppe a fantastic place to relax with an ice-cold treat.
The ice cream shop offers delicious malts and shakes in a variety of flavors, from classic chocolate to delicious cookie dough.
Guests are welcome to choose toppings to add to their malt or shake flavor. Make it more chocolatey with some fudge, or give yourself a boost of energy with coffee.
If you're not into malts, get a cone or sundae! Choose from moose tracks, salted caramel cheesecake, and many more - they're all delicious.
Whatever you order, you'll definitely want to make a stop at PortLand Malt Shoppe this summer. For 2018, they're open April 6 to October 21.
