Marine General Store, located in the charming village of Marine on St. Croix, first opened its doors in 1870 and has been serving customers ever since.
The town is located just up the St. Croix River from the historic town of Stillwater, one of Minnesota's oldest cities.
The venerable store is a town institution.
It sells many of the sundries any small town store would.
It also serves up hot and prepared food at its deli counter, so it's a great spot to stop for lunch.
The store also carries gift items, such as jewelry, candles, and other goods, generally crafted or produced by local makers.
It's also a grocery store with fresh meats and produce.
Marine General Store's true strong suit, however, may be its bakery.
It bakes several varieties of fresh breads daily. You'll also find pies and other tasty treats...
like cupcakes.
The bakery also turns out a regular selection of cookies, including festive sweets for holidays.
Donuts, rolls, turnovers, and danishes are often on hand, as well.
Look for the store's dessert specials.
And if you find yourself in need of cake for a special occasion, Marine General Store can make custom cakes and cupcakes with adequate notice.
