You can’t go wrong when it comes to food from Boston’s Italian North End. Lined from end-to-end with delicious restaurants, this part of town is truly a pasta lover’s paradise. Each eatery has its own distinctive vibe and specialty dishes. While you are bound to experience a wonderful meal at any of these area restaurants, my all-time favorite is La Famiglia Giorgio’s Restaurant.
I ate my first La Famiglia pasta dinner when I was a college student living in Boston. Back then, it was a great way to get a heavenly meal without spending a ton of money. The portions at La Famiglia were so big that I literally had delicious leftovers for days. Nowadays when I visit, I have enough to share with everyone in my family (and sometimes have a few leftovers to enjoy).
La Famiglia is known for delicious Roman-style entrees and family-style portions.
The authentic menu will make you feel like you are eating food cooked by an Italian grandmother.
The pasta portions at La Famiglia are enormous. You can choose between 12 different pasta dishes, including homemade gnocchi and cavatelli.
Top your pasta with one of La Famiglia’s delicious sauces. My favorite is pesto, but the calabrese and carbonara are also great choices.
La Famiglia Giorgio also has classic Italian dishes like eggplant parmigiana, fettuccine alfredo, and lasagna.
Grilled meats, fish, and seafood are also very popular options.
Before La Famiglia Giorgio’s opened as a restaurant, it was a well-known pizzeria.
They still serve up fantastic 12-inch pizzas loaded with fresh toppings.
Do you think you can eat six pounds of lasagna?
The restaurant has four “challenge” plates where customers can earn a t-shirt if they eat everything on the dish. Even though the food is delicious, this challenge is much easier said than done.
Vino anyone? La Famiglia has over 220 choices! There is a fantastic wine-by-the-glass program featuring over 45 distinguished wines.
If you are not a wine drinker, not to worry. La Famiglia also has an impressive list of beer, cocktails, liquor flights, and non-alcoholic beverage options.
And what fine Italian dinner would be complete without dessert?
Tiramisu, cannoli, and gelato are just a few of the menu choices.
If you just can't get enough of La Famiglia Giorgio's homemade pasta, be sure to stop at the fridge and purchase some to bring home.
Have you dined out at La Famiglia Giorgio’s? Or maybe you have another favorite North End Italian restaurant. We would love to know more about your experience. For more information, please visit La Famiglia Giorgio’s website or Facebook page.
Mario's in Lexington and D'Parma in Winthrop are two other great Italian restaurants worth visiting in Massachusetts.
