It's not everyday that you get the opportunity to tour an old hospital, let alone dine inside of one. Yet Puccini Restaurant in Cumberland, Maryland offers that very experience. This beautiful building doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside, but you'll be delighted to find some of the best Italian food in Maryland when you wander in. Here's more on why this business is truly unique.
Welcome to Puccini's Restaurant, which is located inside a rather unexpected location. What appears to be a charming residential house is actually the site of some of the best food in town.
The building, which was once known as the Hinkle House, was constructed in 1818 and served as a Civil War hospital during the Battle at Folck’s Mill.
Today's function of the building is a much more lighthearted business: serving up delicious Italian food and wood-fired pizzas.
In fact, there's an entire floor of the building that's designated as the Pizza Cellar. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a freshly baked pizza and a local beer on tap.
You can request your pizza with just about any topping imaginable, and the portions are big enough to share or take home to enjoy later.
Puccini's also offers delicious pasta dishes, sandwiches, soups and salads. The kitchen sources its ingredients locally whenever possible, and the evidence is in the taste!
So whether you're a history buff or just happen to be craving a delicious slice of pizza, you'll find this unassuming restaurant in Maryland to be absolutely fascinating.
Puccini's is located at 12901 Ali Ghan Rd NE., Cumberland, MD. Have you dined here before? If so, we'd love to hear about your favorite item on the menu! For more information, be sure to visit the official website here.
