Maine is a wonderful place to be hungry! From local seafood shanties to top-notch awarded restaurants, there's quite a bit to choose from. But what we've found most impresses people is just how long some of our restaurants have been around. In addition to great meals we have some serious history and this little spot offers one of the best examples.
The Waco Diner in Eastport is a Maine favorite among both locals and folks from away.
The restaurant was established all the way back in 1924 and it's still operating in the same location as the day it opened.
Which means the food here has been perfected for over 80 years!
It's located right on the water, which means enjoying meals and drinks outside is a must during the warm months.
But, unlike some other restaurants on the water, the Waco Diner is open year-round. Which is a good thing because there's a good chance Mainers wouldn't be able to go all winter without a visit.
They open early, making their breakfasts a must-have. They're huge and full of love.
And classic lunches like lobster rolls are a great way to get a taste of Maine.
The menu also offers also seafood specialties.
And they've got some great, hearty non-seafood options as well. If you love comfort food, you'll love it here!
Stop in for a meal, a drink or just good company and we can almost promise you'll be back for more.
The Waco Diner is open every day from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information check out the website or follow them on Facebook. You can give them a call on 207-853-9226.
