One of the most beautiful spots in Maine is located just off the road in the town of Bernard.
Thurston's Lobster Pound takes up a modest footprint overlooking on Bass Harbor.
The restaurant got its start as a wholesale provider in 1946 and has been in operation by family for over five generations!
With a simple but delicious menu, and a friendly, laid back atmosphere, Thurston's Lobster Pound quickly became a popular spot for the summer tourist crowd and locals alike.
What started out as just a small kitchen with 12 tables under a bright yellow awning has become a favorite spot for both summer tourists and locals.
Start out with a cocktail overlooking the harbor.
But be sure to quickly move on to the food!
An appetizer of steamed mussels or cooked clams are a great way to start your meal.
The lobster roll is made of freshly caught, handpicked lobster claws, tails and knuckle meat lightly tossed.
Want to go all out and get the real deal? They have both hard shell and soft shell lobster.
We love that you can actually see your lobster from the sea to the plate.
There are plenty of sides and lots of delicious combinations.
Oh, and don't dare forget the Maine blueberry pie!
The summer months mean cool breezes from the water, coming into the bar area.
And if the sun is out, you're going to want to sit outside for views that are unparalleled.
A little rainy? No worries! Even an inside seat affords sweeping views.
