If you thought that seafood restaurants in Maine were easy to come by, you'd be right. If you thought that they were hidden around every bend in the road, you'd be right about that too. So, why do we think you should hop on a boat to get to THIS seafood spot? For a few reasons! It's one of the best in the area and, more importantly, who wouldn't want to take a boat ride as part of their lunch experience?
Those looking for the perfect Maine seafood shack will find it just across Casco Bay, accessible by the Casco Bay Lines.
Peaks Island feels like a world away, but it only takes about 15 minutes to reach by boat and it costs less than $20 round trip!
On the other side of the journey, you'll find Milly's!
Milly's Seaside Kitchen serves up lobster rolls and other Maine treats throughout the summer.
The lobster rolls are said to perfect the lobster to "other stuff" ratio with lots of hearty pieces inside the buttery brioche bun.
On a warm day, it might be hard to find a seat but the vibe is casual enough that you could probably just camp out on a ground while you dig into your food.
They also serve up a delicious Cajun chicken sandwich, along with awesome fries.
Milly's is a bit out of the way, but you'll find them on the left while walking up the hill from the ferry.
And it's a good thing you're walking uphill, because you'll probably also want to get a smoothie while you're there!
This is a wonderful place to enjoy before renting a golf car to explore the island, or while waiting for your ferry back to Portland.
It's got all the sights, sounds and smells of maritime Maine making it a great stop on a food tour of the area!
And, those looking for home cooking in the form of baked goods ...
...will want to visit their other outpost in Falmouth, "Milly's Skillet Farmside Kitchen."
