When you think of small-town Maine, what comes to mind? For us, it's a tiny post office, a general store and lots of land. We love this side of Maine for its attachment to roots and for the history it holds. But, we also love some of the hidden gems that most tourists (and even some longtime Mainers) miss out on. This tiny brewery in Oxford County is a great example!

Norway Brewing Company is family-owned and located just off route 26 in Norway.

The inside is small, but feels spacious, airy and inviting.

The taproom is open all year.

But we love it in the spring and summer months for their outdoor beer garden offering tables and fun games.

The menu is seasonal, using local ingredients based on the time of year.

Everything here is hand-made and made for the season.

They work to use as many local ingredients as possible, which means working with Maine fruit and vegetable growers, livestock and dairy farmers.

They even work with local grain and hop growers to to supply the brewers with raw ingredients that are Maine through and through.

The result is menu items like this sublime hanger steak.

Or, the grilled pork belly and quail egg skewers with saison 'yakitori' glaze & pickled vegetables.

How about this totally unique egg sandwich served on on donut for brunch?

There is nothing better to eat within a hundred-mile radius than their fried chicken. Get the Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich with your choice of sauce to really live life to its fullest.

Interested in dessert? Try this incredible chocolate cake with their brown ale.

And, be sure to order a beer flight offering 4oz each of 6 house brews.

Not sure if you want to get a brew or food, you might be able to snag a special like this Mr. Grumpypants Stew.

Their core lineup of beers includes things like "Green Machine," "Left Turn" and "Mr. Grumpypants." They also offer seasonal brews and bottles to take home.

We recommend heading here on a warm, sunny day with a group to order as much as you can to share.
