Most people associate lobster with Maine, so it's no surprise that tourists and locals alike flock to small shacks and shanties along the coast for this buttery delight. But, leave it to Maine to take things one step further. Introducing lobster ice cream in Maine! It might sound strange, but this sugary treat has been creating lines in the town of Bar Harbor for a quite some time now. Brave enough to try it yourself?
Ben and Bill's Chocolate Emporium is located in a prime spot in downtown Bar Harbor, perfect for a stop while on vacation or just enjoying a nice day outside.
The inside is fun and colorful, making it clear that something great is about to happen once you enter the door.
You'll find plenty of candy, including an entire section devoted to saltwater taffy.
And, of course, there are the endless bins of chocolate.
But, we all know why we're here...
As the story goes, Ben and Bill were challenged to create the flavor when someone mentioned that they had every flavor under the sun except lobster.
And, so, they created lobster!
It's made with buttery vanilla ice cream, with the huge chunks of lobster added in to create a buttery flavorful concoction that's both surprising and delicious.
You can see the bits of lobster, but if it's all a little too much for your palette you can easily eat around the lobster to just enjoy the buttery vanilla.
The shop has become known for their creation, and you'll find funny references to the flavor throughout the store.
Whether you choose to try the adventurous flavor or stick to one of the many delicious options on the large menu, this is a fun stop if you're in the Acadia National Park area.
