When it comes to culinary festivals and events in Maine, we're often relegated to the same old thing. Lobster, seafood and...lobster. Not that we're complaining. When you've got access to as much good seafood as we do, you have to celebrate it. But, every once in a while it's nice to give some other foods a little bit of attention. To that end, consider attending this years 3rd annual Maine Cheese Festival!
If this photo makes your mouth water, you're going to want to make sure you attend the best cheese event in Maine.
The fun takes place on Sunday, Sept 9th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Wolfe's Neck Center in Freeport.
The festival is presented by the Maine Cheese Guild, a local non-profit organization working to educate the public whiles supporting local Maine cheesemakers.
Over 30 Maine cheesemakers will be in attendance, sampling and selling their favorite cheeses.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to try some of the best beers and wine Maine has to offer, as well as lots of food trucks and artisan food vendors.
Add some live music, curated tastings, and fun cheesemaking demos and you've got the makings of a pretty great autumn day!
To make the event more intimate and special, tickets are limited to 2,000. And they'll likely sell out.
This event is one of the most unique in Maine and it celebrates an industry in danger of losing support by the state. Come and support local Maine businesses AND enjoy a day of samples!
Make a weekend of it by camping onsite at the oceanfront campground at Wolfe's Neck Farm.
Tickets are $15 if you buy them online, or $18 if there are any available the day of the event.
Wolfe's Neck Farm is located at 184 Burnett Rd. in Freeport.
