If you love lobster and you love Maine, you've likely heard of (and been to!) the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland. This annual event is a must-do every August. But, donning a bib and cracking open an entire lobster isn't for everyone. Good thing the lobster roll exists! This year, for the first time ever, the state of Maine is finally celebrating the venerable lobster roll. Move over regular ol' red guy, it's time for someone else to shine.
It's nearly summer in Maine and with it comes what we've all been waiting for - the return of the lobster roll!
You just can't be unhappy enjoying the first roll of the season...
...unless, of course, it happens to be taking place outside of Maine. Then you're likely to be very disappointed.
That perfect meat to butter ratio, the white roll...
...it's all comes together to create the unmistakable taste of summer in Maine. Indeed, eating a lobster roll is an ode to Vacationland.
And that's why we are absolutely thrilled to attend the first ever festival dedicated not JUST to lobster, but to the lobster roll!
Presented by Down East Magazine, the event will take place at Thompson's Point in Portland on July 8th from 12pm to 5pm.
The event will feature live music, a fun kids' area, a special tent dedicated to Maine Made gifts, and a traditional Maine food truck!
And, you won't want to miss the World's Best Lobster Roll Competition.
General admission is $10 and includes entry, all the live music, the kids’ area and access to food and beverage for sale.
And for $100, you can supporting "Lifeflight of Maine" to celebrate the new medical helicopter with a special VIP party.
