The only thing better than good food is when the atmosphere is just as great. There's certainly no shortage of incredible restaurants with fantastic atmospheres, but there's something about Old Tyme Grocery's old-school charm that sends a wave of nostalgia over you from the moment you step inside. It's no wonder they've been a neighborhood favorite for over 30 years. Let's take a closer look and what makes this hidden gem so special.
Olde Time Grocery has been a culinary landmark for the Lafayette restaurant scene since 1982.
Glenn Murphree grew up in New Orleans and always loved chowing down on a good old fashioned po’boy, so when he purchased the building, he knew he wanted to make the same delicious po’boys he grew up eating.
Not much has changed over the years, and you’ll feel the history of the building when you step inside.
Nostalgic memorabilia from years past adorn the wood-planked walls which bring a warm and rustic atmosphere to the space.
There’s even more seating outside, too.
So when the weather is cooperating, you can enjoy your meal outside on the patio.
When it comes to po’boys, Olde Time Grocery is the place to be.
Overflowing and dressed to the nines, these are 10/10 napkins level of deliciousness.
And with nearly 15 different po’boys to choose from, you’ll have a tough time deciding on what to get.
But that just means you’ll have to come back again and again to eat your way through the entire menu!
You’ll also find several other options like seafood platters and hearty salads.
There's something for everyone!
And they’re always creating new specialty po’boys you’ll want to try.
Like this buffalo ranch chicken po’boy. Yum!
