New Orleans has its fair share of amazing Italian restaurants, but none compare to this charming little eatery that’s been feeding hungry locals for over 25 years. Next time you’re in the mood for some mouthwatering Italian cuisine, be sure to give this place a try!
Irene’s Restaurant, nestled in the heart of the French Quarter, has been delighting New Orleanians with their scrumptious Italian food since 1993.
When Irene DiPietro opened her tiny restaurant, she had no idea that it would become such a beloved fixture in the French Quarter.
Irene’s was an instant hit and quickly became the go-to spot for authentic Sicilian cuisine.
In fact, it became so popular that the restaurant recently moved from their original location on St. Phillip Street over to a new spot at 529 Bienville St.
The new location continues to embody the same charm as their old stomping grounds.
They’ve worked hard to capture the same atmosphere that so many New Orleanians loved about the St. Phillip Street location.
Now for the important part - let’s get to the food!
The menu at Irene’s features a combination of old family recipes and creative new takes on classic favorites. You won’t find dishes like these anywhere else in the city.
And you can count on just about everything on the menu to be simply divine.
If you’re in the mood for seafood, the mussels and soft shell crab are excellent.
Popular entrees include the Chicken Rosemarino and Duck St. Philip.
But you can never go wrong with their epic Lasagna Bolognese.
You can find Irene’s at 529 Bienville St, New Orleans, LA 70130. The restaurant is open for dinner on Monday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Irene’s is closed on Sundays.
