When you think of crawfish, it's hard not to think of Louisiana. We love it, and when they're in season, they pop up on every menu in the state. The annual crawfish festival celebrates these delicious little mug bugs with a four-day festival featuring everyone's favorite crustacean.
There’s nothing more Louisianian than crawfish and once a year, the folks in St. Bernard Parish dedicate an entire weekend to celebrating this Cajun delicacy.
The annual Louisiana Crawfish Festival returns to Chalmette for its 45th year on March 26 — 29, 2020, and this year promises to be the best yet.
What began as a humble little celebration in 1975 has grown into an epic, four-day festival with visitors coming from all areas of the United States.
And of course, all the crawfish you could possibly eat.
Boiled crawfish will be at the ready, prepared by local chefs. Get ready to pinch those tails and suck those heads!
You can expect to find crawfish prepared in a million different ways. Crawfish quesadillas, crawfish étouffée, crawfish bread… Your options are endless.
But that’s just the beginning. All your favorite Cajun cuisine will be available for purchase, from boudin balls to alligator po’boys.
After you’ve eaten, be sure to check out the arts & crafts area, where dozens of local vendors will be selling their specialty goods. Candles, art, furniture, and more will all be available for purchase.
Thrill seekers of all sizes will love all of the carnival rides. Take a spin on the Ferris wheel to catch an amazing bird’s eye view of the festival.
And then try your luck at one of the many carnival game booths.
Throughout it all, you’ll be listening to some talented Cajun musicians as they take the stage to provide the best soundtrack to the festival.
Admission is only $5 per person. At those prices, you can’t afford not to go.
Be sure to follow the Louisiana Crawfish Festival on Facebook so you can stay up to date on the events, and check out their website for more information.
