You wouldn't think that there are many wineries in Pelican State, and you'd be correct. The few that we do have have become community gathering spots with summer concerts, wine tastings, and special events that turn into fais do dos with good times flowing well into the night. This particular winery in Louisiana is a bit of a hidden gem, but well worth the drive out to the countryside. Let's check it out:
The name “Wild Bush Vineyards” may not ring a bell, but you may remember this vineyard’s former name: Pontchartrain Vineyards.
Pontchartrain Vineyards was a local winery in southeastern Louisiana for about 30 years, producing locally made wines that were quick to fly off the shelves in the area. NOLA natives Monica Bourgeois and Neil Gernon purchased the vineyard and have big plans for its future.
Tastings and tours are offered Thursday - Sunday.
You can make a reservation
ahead of time or swing by. Be sure to check the hours of operation for the tastings in advance.
Your guide will take you through Wild Bush’s current wine selections as well as a tour of both the winery and the vineyard, where you’ll learn all about the winemaking process.
Louisiana's climate isn't exactly ideal for growing grapes, but there are a few that can stand up to our weather.
Muscadine is one of the most popular, and this grapevine grows really well all her the southeastern United States. Wild Bush aims to incorporate as many local flavors, like blueberries, mayhems, and pears while also growing hybrid grape varietals.
Wild Bush produces several different wines including pink, white, and red blends that are uniquely Wild Bush.
They also have a few tricks up their sleeve, like hot honey!
I absolutely love hot honey. Give it a try on pizza!
The concert series is always a community favorite, and it'll soon be yours too.
Bring your beach chairs and enjoy a live concert from local musicians while you sip on delicious wines.
Check the calendar of events to find out when the next one is!
