Once upon a time, there was a little inn where they served home cooked meals so good you'd swear your grandmother was hiding in the kitchen. Today, stories like this are still true in Kansas! Restaurants that walk right out of a storybook aren't common by any means, but they're shining examples of the Kansas way of life. This restaurant in central Kansas has it all — scenery, setting, and service. Oh, and the food's even better. Don't believe me? Step in and grab a bite!
Welcome, welcome to the Midland Railroad Hotel! It's hidden in the town of Wilson, which is rich in Czech history and heritage. The first sight you're met with is this amazing 3-story limestone building that's been here since 1920 and restored to its beautiful origins. It definitely looks like an inn, but what's inside?
The visitors here often contribute to the feeling of being thrown back in time, but in a good way. The building has a lot of character shining through, and you'll soon see what I mean.
Just look at these carpets running up the stairs. It's like they've been here forever, never slipping or changing in any way. Have we actually been time travelers this whole time?
The main sitting area is comfortable, with updated fixtures but filled with the same charm the rest of the hotel exudes.
My favorite part is the dining area, with classic tables and unfussy decorations. It feels like somewhere you'd see in a movie or story, but instead, you're feeling it all yourself.
The food definitely feels real, however. Everything seems to be made in-house, and dishes are kept simple yet very tasty. If you're a fan of chicken fried steak at all, you'll find your new best friend at this amazing restaurant in a timeless hotel.
Here's a map for convenience, but we really do suggest adding this location to your bucket lists! It's a one-of-a-kind find right here in the Sunflower State.
After you're done feasting your eyes (and your stomach) at this amazing restaurant, check out this one spot in Kansas where you can see into forever.
