It's time for a day full of foods to satisfy your sweet tooth, and a day to explore new ways to love chocolate even more. This chocolate festival is a great way to bring all sorts of Kansans together for food, fun, and a little friendly competition. Who's ready for a festival unlike any other?
Today's amazing destination leads us to Topeka, where a delectable chocolate festival is happening on September 29, 2018 right in the downtown area.
It's going to be an amazing day full of food, fun, and all sorts of chocolate-themed events.
It all started after Mars decided to open a factory here in Topeka. From there, Topeka's love of chocolate grew, and the idea to have a festival based around it was a big hit.
They've only been holding this festival for a few years, but it only grows bigger every year.
It really is all about the food, but no one is surprised in the least.
A large part of the festival is based around vendors selling all sorts of chocolate products of all shapes and colors, where people can congregate and taste what the city has to offer.
There are chocolate connoisseurs that work right in front of you, and others that have packaged their goods in easily carried to-go containers.
Inside an enclosed area, there are also plenty of chocolatiers that have samples available for $1 a piece - until they run out, that is. It might be better to get in early so you can snag a few bites before seeing the rest of the festival's events.
As far as the festival goes, there's a few big events that make sure you're busy all day.
For starters, there's a 5K/10K run, live demonstrations, musical performances, and even a chocolate competition.
With chocolate however, sometimes things get a little messy. This chocolate pudding eating contest is one you'll want to take your glasses off for, that's for sure.
The festival itself is free besides the samples in the specialty chocolate area, and the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We hope you have a blast! Here's a video by YouTuber WIBW News Now recapping 2017's chocolate festival, if you'd like to see more of what you're waiting for.
