Welcome to Henry's Candy Co, where hand made candies are everyone's favorite treat.
In the small town of Dexter, this candy shop sits hiding in wait for curious travelers to come through. Little do they know that inside, you might find someone hand-mixing candy in every color and flavor imaginable.
In 1880, a man named Thomas Henry was born and soon grew up learning and practicing his love of candy craft. In 1919, he invented the famous O'Henry candy bar while he worked in Ark City, and soon after, he and his son traveled together making candy all over the place.
Dexter was where they ended up landing, and after upgrading to the current building in 1975, the family business has stuck around ever since. Currently, the third and fourth generations of this family name are using the old recipes and methods to make the same candy years and years later.
Simple methods and ingredients yield the best results, and they show no sign of stopping. Every Sunday afternoon, the public is welcome to watch the candy being made.
You can find more than just lollipops here, as well. They also have fancy cut candies with intricate designs like this flower, or softer treats like chocolates and taffy.
Everything's made by hand, just how it's supposed to be. Whether your favorite flavors are sweet or tart, you'll probably find them fresh, right here in small town Kansas.
Henry's Candy Co is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and they open a little later at 9 a.m. on Sundays. Why not stop in and get a sweet treat next time you're in the area?
