This road trip worthy eatery is all the rage with locals. It's the perfect combination of fine dining and breathtaking atmosphere — and it's hiding right here in Iowa! Let's take a look.
Amazing art, an incredible atmosphere, great food, and a swanky jazz bar are all found at this restaurant right here in Iowa.
That's right: Waterloo has a famous restaurant with an interpretation of the Sistine Chapel on the ceiling.
Galleria de Paco & Catacomb Lounge is located at 622 Commercial Street in Waterloo.
The upscale menu has every delicacy you might expect of a fine dining restaurant, and it doesn't disappoint.
From steak and fresh asparagus...
...to shrimp pasta, the menu is absolutely divine.
While the food is certainly mouthwatering, the restaurant's interior is the star of the show. It is both lavish and fascinating.
The artist, Paco Rosic, spent four months painting the ceilings and walls using Krylon spray paint.
Locals love it here, of course, and Galleria de Paco has even captured the attention of Rachael Ray and the LA Times. Rosic is an accomplished and well-known graffiti artist.
Rosic recently spent time in St. Louis creating a mural on the ceiling of a new Benton Park restaurant.
You don't have to travel that far to see his handiwork, though.
After spending his teenage years in Sarajevo, Rosic traveled with his parents to Germany. They sought asylum in Iowa.
The family worked at Hy-Vee for ten years, saved their money, and bought a broken-down building intending to open a restaurant.
The entire establishment is a work of art. Be sure to visit the lounge and enjoy a beautiful cocktail.
You can see more of Rosic's art at his website.
