There's nothing better than some hearty, homemade diner food for breakfast, and this little diner in Waterloo has been serving up some of the best breakfast since 1945.
Morg's Diner first opened on West Fourth Street back in 1945. The second location opened in 1960, and it's the one that remains. You'll find it at 520 Mulberry Street in Waterloo.
This place is a no-frills throwback to the 1960s, with its vinyl booths and checkerboard floor.
Morg's is the kind of diner where regulars hang out, and the small waitstaff knows everyone by name.
This little gem, located right across the street from Lincoln Park, is an icon of Waterloo. Most of the employees have been here for years. In fact, former waitress Sam Ludwig is now a co-owner of the diner.
Come for breakfast, and you won't leave hungry. Everything on the menu is divine, and most reviews give this spot a solid five stars.
Morg's is famous for its huge pancakes. They're as big as your head — or even bigger, in some cases.
There are plenty of great lunch options on the menu, but the very best is the hand-breaded tenderloin sandwich, accompanied by some homemade onion rings.
We'll be honest; there's no way you'll have room for pie after a meal at Morg's. But the home-baked pies are so delicious that you should definitely take a slice (or a whole pie) home with you.
If you're new to this diner, grab a souvenir t-shirt or mug to commemorate your first ever breakfast at Morg's.
Stop by Morg's Diner for breakfast or lunch, seven days a week. It's open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
