We all know by now that some of the best restaurants in our state come in unassuming packages. From restaurants that look like little more than homes and hidden buildings that offer some amazing cuisine, sometimes hidden, little-known restaurants are the best to try. That's exactly what you'll find when you stumble upon this tiny Mexican restaurant hiding in central Indiana...
Tiaolli is a tiny Mexican restaurant housed in this little, yet vibrantly colored building on East Washington Street. From the outside, the only thing intriguing about the building is the paint, but once inside, you'll change your mind about that.
Once inside, the building seems even smaller (if that's possible), but the scent of their freshly cooked tamales will have you forgetting all about the size of the restaurant.
Tiaolli prides themselves on creating fresh, local, and authentic Mexican tamales and cuisine, with a modern twist. Some of the modern changes are for health reasons, such as using olive oil to cook with, instead of lard. While primarily a carryout restaurant, you will find some seating inside, as well as on the patio.
The outside patio area is small yet festive, and available for sitting, weather permitting, allowing you to enjoy your Mexican cuisine on the spot.
One of the modern twists that Tiaolli provides is offering a large range of vegan and vegetarian options, such as this ECDC torta. Like many of their foods, this torta can be made vegan, quite easily, but can also have your choice of meat added.
They even have delicious Mexican soups, like charro bean stew, tiaolli chicken, and cream of calabacita soup to keep you warm as the weather gets cold.
They also have Sunday brunch specials that will combine your love of breakfast foods and Mexican cuisine. One bite and you'll be hooked.
Whether you order tamales to go or try dining in, you'll find a new favorite eatery at this little hidden gem.
You can find Tiaolli at 2830 E Washington St, Indianapolis, Indiana and order online here.
