Once upon a time, horses were boarded here. These weren't just any old horses: they had an important job. This was the stable for horses that delivered beer for the Terre Haute Brewing Company.

The building's entryway was constructed back in 1890. The stables were removed in the 1920s, and the place was cleaned up and turned into a restaurant. Much of the original woodwork is still in place, giving The Stables restaurant a uniquely historic vibe you won't find in many other eateries.
