1. The Vine - Elkhart

You might be wondering how a restaurant could truly remain hidden within a building this jaw-dropping. Somehow, tucked within this historic building, The Vine remains very much a hidden gem, though locals can tell you a thing or two about how amazing this place truly is. Here, you’ll find an elegant meal and dining experience with hand-picked wine to complete the night.

2. Perillo’s Pizzeria - North Salem

This family centered restaurant is all about providing a great meal for community members. The owner, Damiano Perillo, is originally from Italy and all of the food recipes here were personally created by him. This place won’t take reservations or credit cards, but it’s well worth a slight wait and trip to the ATM.

3. Hilltop Inn - Evansville

Brace yourself for this delicacy. This southern Indiana restaurant is famous for their unique dish: fried pork brains. This dish is raved about in Evansville and while it might seem off-putting to less adventurous eaters, this is actually a popular dish across the world. Hilltop Inn may not look like much, but it’s a great place to try something new. Don’t worry - there are great staple foods like cod and fried chicken as well.

4. Peppy Grill - Indianapolis

In the artsy Fountain Square district of Indianapolis sits a local greasy spoon, offering residents coffee, food, and good company. Slightly off the beaten path of most IU college-geared restaurants is Sweet Grass, a charming bistro style restaurant that even many Bloomington residents are unaware of. Sweet Grass is a great place to grab a drink, catch up with friends, or enjoy a romantic date night. One of the highest rated favorites on the menu is the pimento mac and cheese, though their fried green tomatoes are also quite beloved.

6. Maple Indian Cuisine - Goshen

This Goshen restaurant is one of those places that everybody means to try, and then generally forgets to. Maple Indian Cuisine is well worth the trip, particularly if you’re vegetarian. While there are tons of meat options, even their lunch buffet is well stocked with vegetarian friendly and tasty dishes. Most dishes are not extremely spicy, so if you want that extra kick, just request it!

7. The Italian Connection - Fort Wayne

What this fine dining establishment lacks for in curb appeal, it makes up for with superb cooking. Don’t be deceived by what outside; if you walk inside, you’re bound to be wowed. The chef himself is extremely entertaining and performs late night medleys, and is particularly fond of Sinatra. With a great wine selection, house made pasta, and welcoming atmosphere, this hidden restaurant is one you have to check out.

8. The Lake House - Brazil

This restaurant is very much off the beaten path. Think you’re lost? You’re probably close. The Lake House is a local haunt in Brazil that offers gorgeous views of the woods, rustic charm, and top notch food. This restaurant offers quite a bit of everything from beef tips to sweet and spicy duck wings to sweet potato fries, and outstanding desserts. This hidden gem is sure to become one of your favorite spots.

9. Hagen’s Restaurant - French Lick

Arguably the best restaurant in the area, Hagen’s Restaurant is tucked away inside of the golf course, offering diners an excellent view while they enjoy their meals. The most recommended item on the menu is their highly raved about ribs, but their salmon, sandwiches, and steaks are also delicious. If you find yourself near French Lick, give this hidden restaurant a taste.
