There's another hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Indiana that does seafood the right way. Next time you find yourself around Seymour, you've got to stop into this fried fish shack for a bite to eat.
Catfish, cod fish, crab cakes, and frog legs abound! Check it out:
In business since 2011, The Fish Stand is a casual joint in a residential part of southern Indiana that is known for its delicious and budget-friendly seafood dishes. If you're in the mood for no-frills dining, this place is ideal.
The building has obviously been standing much longer than it's been a fried fish shack. This ramshackle, red brick structure is sturdy despite its outward appearance. It may not appear welcoming, but that all changes once you step inside.
Country gals and guys and those who really love nautical themes will find the interior fun. It's rustic with wood paneling and simple seating that is first come, first serve.
There is not a great deal of room and guests are asked to order at the front before having their meals brought out to them. You can also take your food to-go.
Menu items include pollock, catfish, cod fish, shrimp, crab cakes, clam strips, and frog legs for the seafood lovers. Items are fried to perfection and served as sandwiches or dinners with sides.
If you prefer land cuisine, you'll love tenderloins, chicken, pork fritters, beef pattys, onion rings, hush puppies, cheese curds, cheese sticks, spicy cheese balls, mac & cheese balls, fried pickles, fried green beans, and french fries. If you're craving something sweet, you have to go for the pie.
If you're a true Hoosier, you won't leave without a taste of Bo Bo's chili. Go ahead and get a large and take the rest home if you can't finish it all.
The Fish Stand is open Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. as well as Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You'll be hooked on this place after one bite.
The Fish Stand is located at 423 N Ewing St., Seymour, IN 47274, and you can learn more about it on its website or Facebook page.
