There's something quite fascinating about the Prairie State's Amish country. Approximately 4,000 people make up the Amish community in Central Illinois and live simple lives that are far removed from the modern world. Visitors are welcome to get a taste of life by visiting the towns of Arthur and Arcola where you can enjoy exploring shops and restaurants. There's even a cafe in Illinois' Amish country called Broomtown Cafe that can be found in Arcola. Let's have a look.
Occupying a building that was once a historic bank in downtown Arcola is a coffeehouse and cafe. Its historic ambiance is only a small piece of what makes this cafe so wonderful.
Open since 2019, Broomtown Cafe has become a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to gather for a sense of community while enjoying flavorful Midwestern cuisine, baked goods, and locally-roasted coffee.
If you consider yourself a coffee connoisseur, you'll enjoy the coffee which comes from a local roaster. While you can order a drip or specialty brew, the menu also offers a wide selection of additional drinks from smoothies to teas to hot chocolate.
As for bakery items, they are all either made in-house or by a local bakery. Try a fresh scone or muffin to accompany your coffee.
The cuisine served here uses natural, locally-souced ingredients whenever possible. Meat, milk, and eggs are procured from local farms around Illinois' Amish country.
There are plenty of breakfast and lunch options on the menu from omelets and waffles to sandwiches and salads as well. It's the perfect place to stop by if you're looking for more than just a coffee or pastry item.
You can certainly enjoy the little things here at Broomtown Cafe like a lovely cup of coffee, fresh baked goods, and a delicious meal!
