Casey's Candy Depot is an old-fashioned candy shop along the old Doty Railroad, which came out of Kansas and ran to West Libertyville, Illinois in the 1800s. It is locally owned and operated and features an array of vintage treats and other surprises, and considered by some to be the best candy store in Illinois.
The Doty Railroad was in use in the mid-1880s and spanned a total of 57 miles.
The store is set in a refurbished mechanical building that was used for the railroad. The structure was renovated and turned into and old depot-style store that is both charming and old-fashioned. Its charm makes it one of the most nostalgic stores in Illinois.
You'll find all sorts of treasures and surprises in this giant candy store. Guests will find displays of fine chocolates and 12 different flavors of fudge. Truffles, peanut butter cups, caramels, and other creamy delights abound.
The store also stocks 40 different flavors of taffy. Nothing beats this old-fashioned boardwalk treat that will make you think you've gone to the beach.
