Since 1995, Crazy Joe's Fish House has been a staple for patrons from near and far. Located off the beaten path in the town of Ava, it is housed in an old pole barn, and though it gained new ownership in 2007, it still retains the same family-friendly atmosphere it's always had.
Open three days each week from 4:00 pm. to 10:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, this down home eatery is a nostalgic trip for many who have eaten here much of their lives. Patrons come from as far as St. Louis.
Guests may sit indoors or outdoors on the deck. In the winter, a wood burning stove heats the restaurant. Unique and interesting decor is plastered on the walls such as road signs, license plates, neon signs, and deer heads, and the shelves above the bar are lined with beer cans.
Most people come to this diner for the perfect combination of hot fish and cold beer. The seafood is always fresh, and menu items are written on a board in the restaurant. Meals cost between $15 and $30 each.
Locals also like to visit for the eatery's newest addition: the smokehouse. Delicious baby back ribs are always made fresh here.
