Open 24/7, R-Place Family Eatery in Morris has been serving diner favorites since 1967. It was originally called the Chuck Wagon, and the food is so good, they often cater events like weddings and company picnics.
The interior is decorated with vintage toys, pictures, and other objects. Brightly lit and speckled with color, this restaurant offers as must of a feast for the eyes as it does for your stomach.
There are also daily puppet shows to entertain guests of all ages while dining. Don't get creeped out - it's cute.
Cure that midnight hunger or early morning hangover here. The restaurant serves incredible, homemade food and is open morning, noon, and night. Locals enjoy hearty portions of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Menu items include sandwiches, wraps, burgers, fried chicken, and more. You'll also enjoy a slew of appetizers like soft pretzels, mozzarella sticks, and mac & cheese bites. Breakfast items like omelets and pancakes are served all day.
The most famous thing about this diner might be its four pound burger challenge, known as "Premium Ethyl." Participants must complete the challenge within one hour, though most are not able to. The current record is held by a (machine) man who ate it in seven minutes.
If all that wasn't filling enough, you have to try the homemade desserts. Eat in or grab something to go. You don't want to miss out on cheesecake, bread pudding, carrot cake, cream pie, and more.
This restaurant is also known for its bakery. It creates extravagant cakes, cupcakes, eclairs, brownies, cookies, and other pastries that locals love. They also make homemade breads, and you can smell it all around.
This unique, quirky diner was named with the thinking that "R-Place was their place." Kids eat free daily at this down home eatery where the staff will soon know you by name.
